Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) -Thousands came together to give thanks at the DECC in Duluth for the 24th annual Thanksgiving Buffet.

Lines extended well around the DECC as people got a chance to enjoy a free Thanksgiving meal.
The event sponsored by St. Scholastica was made possible through donations with nearly one-thousand volunteers working hard to make the event a success. While there was plenty of food to be had, that's not all that was offered.

"We have lots of musical entertainment, we have Santa Claus for the kids, books for the kids. It's just a great way to make sure everybody has the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving."

And everyone did celebrate - with plenty of holiday spirit to go around.

"The meal fills the void for a person away from home, and I'm very grateful to have this meal, because I'm a long ways from home."

Up to 15-hundred meals were also delivered to those who couldn't make it to the DECC.
Up to one-thousand more dined in satellite locations around the Northland.

After the meal is over, none of the food will go to waste. It will be given to Second Harvest early Friday morning and donated to area food banks.

All of the turkey was donated by a single anonymous donor ...and it is literally a ton of turkey or 22-hundred pounds!
