Following the death of three year old Renna Williams investigators in Danbury, Wisconsin are trying to determine how the little girl died.
The preliminary autopsy report indicates the cause of death was accidental drowning.
Renna Williams' body was found in the Yellow River just after 5:00 PM Wednesday, just 25 yards from her parent's home.
The girl's mother says Renna was playing with the family dog and wandered away.
The Burnett County Sheriff and his investigators spent much of the day today searching the area for clues....including the family's home.
"All options are on the table, nothing is off and we will look where the investigation leads us," Dean Roland, the Burnett County Sheriff, said.
Though it's being treated as a tragic accident, investigators call it an open investigation.
"I really don't know what to think," a neighbor said.
People that live near the Williams home are confused how this tragic accident could happen.
One nearby resident saw Williams wondering barefoot across the street in the park with her dog on Tuesday afternoon, the same day she was reported missing.
"That wasn't the first time she was seen wondering around, because, over the last several weeks, I've seen her a couple different times," a neighbor said.
A different neighbor brought her back home around 5:00 only for her to wonder off again.
"We are aware of the fact that she had been brought home—was turned over to her father. And it was about an hour and a half later when she was again reported missing," Dean Roland, the Burnett County Sheriff, said.
One of the men fishing in the canal Tuesday afternoon says he urged Williams' mother, Jenna Danish, to call the sheriff's department after she came to him worried about her daughter.
But apparently she wouldn't make the call, so he did.
"And come to find out that she was that close is the thing that really hits you," a neighbor said.
As far as the autopsy, this is just the preliminary report, released this evening from the Burnett County Medical examiner.
The initial determination is that the death was an accidental drowning, however, the Burnett County Sheriff expects the full report to be released within two weeks.
