(NNCNOW.com) --- A program that provides hungry children with healthy foods on the weekends has received a boost.

Nearly 700 bags of nutritious and easy to prepare food are given to children living in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin each week.

It’s part of the Project Joy Backpack Feeding Program, put on by the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

Now, The Duluth area Thrivent Financial has donated $1,600 to help fund the program.

BackPack kits often include cereal, entrees, fruits, vegetables, and snack items.
