Military men, friends and family members came out to commemorate the life Tuskegee Airman Joe Gomer.

Gomer was a part of the Tuskegee Airmen, an all black flying fighter unit in WWII.

The airmen started off as an military experiment expected to fail.
Instead Gomer and his comrades exceeded expectations and became heros.

Today Gomer received full military honors as loved ones said goodbye.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth last year.
