Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Some people around the Twin Ports caught a glimpse of a meteor or two overhead late Friday afternoon.

"(I) saw a huge meteor at about 5:15 in the southwest sky over Spirit Mtn as we were heading south on I35. awesome!!!," Stephanie Boyat e-mailed us.

Another viewer snapped pictures of the bright object in the sky in Billings Park.

"I took photos of a bright object falling from the southern sky from billings park around 4:20-4:40," Jamie Bender wrote.

While meteors can be visible during the day, the Leonid meteor shower will be best visible this weekend between midnight and dawn Nov. 16 and 17. The peak time will be about 5 a.m. E.T. Sunday, Nov. 17.
