Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Two people have been charged in connection to an arson fire that occurred in Superior on March 29.

Michael Garner Thompson and Amy Marie Pionk admitted to causing the fire at the residence on the 1300 block of North 23rd street that was occupied by Pionk's former spouse at the time. Pionk indicated her primary motivation was to cause her former spouses' residence to be damaged so that she might regain custody of their children.

Pionk is charged with party to the crime of felony arson and party to the crime of possessing molotov cocktails. Thompson has been charged with felony arson and possession of molotov cocktails.

If convicted on both charges, they could each up to 46 years in prison.

On the night of the fire, Pionk allegedly drove Thompson to the residence and threw the molotov cocktails through a basement window, thus causing the fire to start.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but the family dog was rescued and is doing well.

Damage estimates were at $20,000.
