Two Harbors, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- American Red Cross volunteer Dave Gearou from Two Harbors, Minnesota is deploying to the disaster relief operation in Colorado where flash flooding has displaced thousands.

Gearou will work with community partners to provide relief for those affected by this disaster.

The Red Cross is assisting hundreds of flood victims by providing a warm, safe place to stay. More than 500 people stayed in 14 Red Cross shelters Monday night across the state.

Red Cross officials say they are working closely with local emergency management officials, the Colorado National Guard and community organizations to ensure people get the help they need.

More than 400 trained Red Cross disaster workers are deployed to Colorado, including 9 from Minnesota, along with more than 20 emergency response vehicles and six trucks of relief supplies.

Working with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Red Cross has served more than 10,000 meals and snacks.
