Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Going Red for Women also took to the streets of Duluth Friday as two DTA "heart buses" donned a bright red wrap for the occasion.

The buses are a collaborative effort between the Duluth Transit Authority and Essentia Health.

Known as the "heart buses," they encourage Northlanders to take a free heart risk assessment through Essentia.

DTA buses have donned pink in the past for breast cancer research, but this is the first time their fleet has gone red.

Essentia Health Cardiologist Dr. Nancy Hassinger says she hopes the buses remind people to take the time to be heart healthy.

"I tell my patients that we brush our teeth every day. We make time to brush our teeth. We need to make time to go for a walk," said Dr. Hassinger, sitting right behind a large plastic model of the spotlight organ. "We need to make time for some healthy choices."

Other locations going red for National Wear Red Day include Super One Foods, UMD dorms, and the Lake Superior Zoo.
