UMD Top LGBT Friendly Campus

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- UMD has been placed on the list of 2014 'Top 50' LGBT–Friendly Colleges and Universities according to Campus Pride which partnered with the Huffington Post.

This is the first year Campus Pride has released a 'Top 50' list.
In the past the list was limited to twenty five colleges.

The expanded list shows the expansion of colleges becoming Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender friendly.

UMD has also received five of five stars for campus climate according to the Huffington Post.

Spokespeople say the two accomplishments are due to improvements in environments established at the college, including a "Queer and Allied Student Union" and an endowed GLBTA.

Scholarship, along with expanded counseling and health services, campus safety, student life, recruitment and retention, policy inclusion and institutional commitment.
