UMD's Bob Nielson Setting Sights as Western Illinois Football Coach

Macomb, Ill (NNCNOW.COM) -- UMD's Head Football coach, Bob Nielson is one of three finalists interviewing for the Western Illinois University head football coach opening, according to the school's website.

Director of Athletics, Dr. Tim Van Alstine announced the three finalists Wednesday, which also include the current head coach at Missouri S&T, David Brown, and Bill Cubit, the former head coach at Western Michigan.

According to Van Alstine, he anticipates announcing a head coach shortly after interviews, which will wrap up in the next seven says.

"We are very excited about the three finalists for our head football coach position. All three candidates have extensive coaching experience at various levels, all with success. We want to bring in the right individual to make Leatherneck Football an annual contender in the Missouri VAlley Football Conference," said Van Alstine.
