UPS oops! Truck latch failure startles Duluth motorist

May 22, 2014 Updated May 22, 2014 at 6:21 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Duluth motorist says she was taken aback by what she saw on Highway 53 Thursday morning.

Stephanie Daigle snapped a picture of the UPS truck with its back door wide open and packages precariously close to the open door.

Daigle says she was most surprised by the hoops she had to go through to report the situation.

She later uploaded the picture to Facebook.

A UPS representative told KBJR 6 & Range 11 the truck had a latch failure and was promptly put out of service until the latch is repaired.

The truck was headed toward West 27th Avenue in Duluth and we're told it did not lose any packages.
