International Falls, MN (NNCNOW.com) - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations has deployed staff from the International Falls Port of Entry to provide support to agencies dealing with flooding in the Rainy Lake area.

CBP Officers conducted law enforcement support to the Koochiching County Sheriff's Office and the International Falls City Police Department where CBP was able to assist with traffic control issues, ensure public safety, and provide welfare and infrastructure checks for local residents.

CBP volunteers will also be assisting in sandbagging at Rainer city beach.

Meanwhile, there's a call out for more sandbaggers in International falls, where heavy rains have already wiped out docks and flooded homes and roads.

The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross is on scene assessing damage, providing nursing and food and drink.

More than 400 meals have been distributed since last Friday through the Red Cross.
