Washington D.C. (NNCNOW.com) - The US Senate passed a bill this evening that's aimed to help improve VA hospitals across the country.
The $17 billion bill will help address problems by providing resources to hire more doctors, expand access for veterans to seek care at non-VA facilities.
Senator Tammy Baldwin says the bill will also hold officials to a higher standard of accountability.
"This legislation does so in several ways first of all, creating accountability for those who mishandled and in some ways lied about the waiting times for our veterans," said U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin,
The bill now heads to President Obama for signing.
