Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Wisconsin–Superior (UW–Superior) is offering more paid internships after receiving $150,000 in Career Ready Internship grants.

Based on student success from a 2013 pilot program, the Great Lakes awarded new grants to 40 colleges and universities this year for $5.2 million to help more than 2,000 students.

"With the Career Ready Internship grant, we are thrilled to announce the Jacket Internship Financial Assistance (JIFA) Program will be available for another year." Career Services Director at UW–Superior, Kathy Pykkonen, said.

The program goals include cultivating new paid internship opportunities with organizations, business and government (or public) agencies, the college said.

UW–Superior says participating in internships improves students' odds of progressing toward college completion; 98% of interns either re–enrolled the next semester or graduated.
