Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- University of Wisconsin Superior students are preparing for the school year.

A record number of about 850 students are moving into residence halls this weekend.

Hundreds of incoming freshman are taking part in the 3-day "Weekend of Welcome."

Students are mingling, getting to know other students and professors and learning more about the campus.

Two freshmen we caught up with say they are excited to begin a new chapter in their lives.

"It's just kind of a new start I guess," Devyn Kiszewski a freshman said. "I think that's pretty much the same as everybody in college."

"Just to get started with a career, start school and start a new life," Brittany Thomfohrda, a freshman said.

Freshmen students received their graduation tassels on Friday.

Campus officials hope the tassels will serve as a motivational tool to help students during their studies.
