Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Thanks to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 137, those who may be alone for the holiday season may not be so lonely after all...

Tuesday afternoon the VFW hosted their annual free Christmas Eve dinner for those who may not have family and friends nearby.

And people who attended didn't only walk away with a full belly, but also a few gifts.

"We have gloves and hats for everybody who comes, and all the little kids get a present. Everybody thinks that when you give to people that they appreciate it, but without them knowing their smiles and their appreciation just means the world to us," said Jim Booth, director of the event.

The dinner is an annual tradition dating back more than three decades.

Dozens of volunteers donated their time, money, food, and services to make the event happen.
