Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A group barred from participating in this year's West Duluth Memorial Day Parade didn't let it stop them from spreading their message on Monday.

Veterans for Peace, held its own Memorial Day presentation on Lake Place Plaza in Duluth following the parade.

Spokespeople for the group, which had a spot in the parade in the past, say the group focuses on the costs and causes of war in an effort to end current and future wars.

They say participating in parades helps get their message out to those in the community.

"We wanted to continue to have some kind of an observance for Memorial Day to honor those who have given their lives to serve our country, both in the military and those who serve our country in other ways and have given their lives, and working for peace and justice in our world," said group member John Pegg.

According to the groups' President they were denied entrance this year due to their political message.
