Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - It was a dramatic and chaotic scene Friday afternoon as two people were pulled from a burning house in Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The fire broke out just before 1 p.m. at 603 N 23rd Ave. West.

The first crews on scene entered the front door and began extinguishing the fire.

The next crew that arrived saw a man hanging out a first floor window in the back of the house surrounded by smoke.

"We had crews rescue that male out of that rear window. the male informed us there was another person in the house so we immediately focused our efforts trying to locate that second victim," said assistant chief Bryan Bushey of the Duluth Fire Department.

The second victim, believed to be an adult woman was also pulled from the burning building. She was listed in critical condition Friday night.

The fire department had to call in additional crews when they became involved with patient care.

Both of the victims were taken to the hospital.
