August 1, 2013 Updated Aug 1, 2013 at 11:10 AM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Volunteers are needed to help breathe new life into the Duluth Armory Arts and Music Center as construction starts on two projects for the historic building.

Crews will deconstruct the brick wall at the ramp on 13th Avenue East and repaint the front stairway on London Road.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to this community event. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The event will run from 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday, August 10, with two options for helping out: a morning shift from 9:00-Noon, and an afternoon shift from 1:00-4:00.

Lunch will be served for all volunteers between Noon and 1:00, and music will be provided at lunchtime by students of the Music Resource Center.

Water coolers will be readily available, and all volunteers are encouraged to bring a reusable cup or water bottle in order to stay well hydrated. Crews will provide gloves, safety glasses, and tools.

Volunteers should contact Clare Ford by phone at 218-722-1693 or by email at cford@d.umn.edu.
