Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Thousands of volunteers across Minnesota are sparking conversations aimed to defeat the state constitutional marriage amendment, that would define marriage as between one man and one woman.

Northland volunteers spent three hours tonight making phone calls at marathon phone banks in Duluth.

The calls were part of larger state wide "Weekend of Action" events.

Eighty percent of this weekend's volunteers across the state are new to the "Vote No" campaign.

Volunteers from "Minnesotans United for all Families," say the single most important action you can take to defeat the amendment, is to start conversations with people you know.

"Marriage is about love and commitment," Andy Mundt said. "No Minnesotan should be restricted from that freedom to marry."

A training workshop to teach people how to start those conversations is scheduled Monday night from 6 until 9 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Duluth.
