Pike Lake, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A viewer in Pike Lake's chicken coop has been terrorized by a pine marten since spring.

After losing several chickens to it, and seeing the marten run by their family minivan in their driveway, the viewer decided to set a live trap using chicken parts from one of their flock.

The next morning, they checked the trap and found this.

After shooting this video, the animal was taken to the woods outside of Proctor and set loose.

The pine marten belongs to the weasel family and almost disappeared in Minnesota by 1920 due to the logging industry.

The full recovery of the population by 1990 is a DNR management success story.
