Wendy's restaurant in Duluth closed following morning fire

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Wendy's Restaurant along Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth is closed as fire crews investigate what sparked an early morning fire.

The Fire Department received a call around seven Monday morning on the report of a structure fire at 1720 Miller Trunk Highway. Upon arrival, crews found fire coming from the drive-thru area of the restaurant with flames extending to the ceiling.

Fire fighters were able to put out the blaze quickly, however remained on scene for over an hour.

A manager says she had just arrived to open the restaurant when she noticed smoke in the entry way and called 911.

Crews have not determined the cause of the fire, however damage is estimated at more than $60,000. The restaurant remains closed during the investigation.

20 firefighters from Downtown, Miller Hill, and West Duluth fire stations responded to this incident.
