The campaign, called "Hour of Code," is aimed at helping five million children learn computing skills.
President Obama and House Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor support the campaign, along with a number of top celebrities, and the heads of Facebook and Google.
Apple and Microsoft stores are holding "Hour of Code" learning events this week.
