Dancers came from across the area today for the third annual Willie Kruger dance competition.

Created to honor the memory of dance enthusiast Willie Kruger, the gathering of performers has grown dramatically since its creation.
Dancers compete in categories based on their age, in both solo and group presentations.

The winners, selected by a panel of judges, are awarded trophies and cash prizes.

The event focuses on providing a venue for dancers of all ages to come together in an attempt to reconnect with Canal Parks history of dance.

"When we used to dance back in the day, we danced in Canal Park. So to bring it back to Canal Park after twenty years has been a dream," says John D'Auria, the event founder.

Competition and admittance to the Willie Kruger Dance competition is completely free of charge.
