Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Colleges across Northwestern Wisconsin are working together to better prepare students for the growing job market in the region.

Eight institutions recently formed a group called Northwest Wisconsin Educators for Regional Development, or NorthWERD. Superior is on the verge of seeing some major job growth in the area with Exodus Machine's recent expansion announcement and Kestrel Aircraft choosing to base its aviation business in the city.

The President of WITC says it's their job as educators to offer the programs necessary to prepare a skilled workforce.

"We see our role as working together to make sure that the right programming is in place and the right graduates are coming out of our institutions to help fuel that economic growth," said Bob Meyer.

NorthWERD partners are set to celebrate the group's formation Wednesday morning at the Lac Courte Oreilles Community College in Hayward.
