(DULUTH,MN)---This fall Minnesota will enforce its first ever wolf hunting and trapping season.
A panel discussion on the legal and ethical concerns with the wolf hunt took place at UMD tonight.
Officials on the panel addressed concerns regarding the hunt.
Tonight's discussion follows action by the Minnesota DNR to oppose to the petition that would temporarily hold the upcoming hunting season.
"This process was totally open—the state legislature—I mean they held hearings and, I mean, it was as open as it could have been," L. David Mech, IUCN Wolf Specialist Group said.
"This is an iconic species that people care deeply about," Howard Goldman, MN Senior State Director, The Humane Society said.
Conservation groups are seeking a preliminary injunction to prevent a hunting and trapping season on wolves from happening.
The CEPP hosted the event and panelists represented both sides of the hunting season.
