Wolf hunt suspension measure continues movement through Senate

March 17, 2014 Updated Mar 17, 2014 at 4:02 PM CST

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A measure that would suspend Minnesota's wolf hunt cleared another hurdle Monday.

There were little discussion on the bill leading up to a vote.

The Senate Committee on Local and state government approved the bill calling for annual census counts to make sure the Minnesota wolf population does not fall below 16 hundred, a number that would relist the animal as a threatened species.

The bill now heads to the Senate finance committee.
