Duluth, MN (Northland’s NewsCenter) --- Thousands of dollars were raised to help fight breast cancer at the 8th annual Women Rock event this afternoon.

Charter Media hosted its fundraiser at the Spirit Mountain Recreation Center.

All proceeds raised at the event go toward breast cancer education, equipment upgrades and care at the St. Luke's Foundation.

Throughout the past seven years, $210,000 has been raised at the fundraiser.

Aside from perusing numerous vendor and information booths, thousands of people had the chance to watch a fashion show, a progressive martial arts demonstration as well as a performance arts and belly dancing show.
They also had the chance to participate in a silent auction and get their handwriting analyzed.

Aside from raising money, organizers say the Women Rock event creates awareness about breast cancer and brings both men and women together.

"Everybody is touched somehow,” Bonnie Nimmo, A Women Rock event organizer said. “There is a sister or an aunt or a mother, everybody knows somebody. We thought it's very important to do something like this for everybody."

Dozens also ‘rocked for a reason.’

People had opportunity to pledge money and rock in a reclining chair for a half hour.
