Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - EarlierFriday, the Duluth Local Energy Action Plan hosted its second public meeting, the overall goal of which is to develop and implement a Community–wide Energy Action Plan.
LEAP hopes to move Duluth toward a more secure economy, and achieve it by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and overall energy use in buildings, manufacturing, and transportation.
According to energy officials, it's an opportunity to be a role model community.
"We want to be a model for other communities in the local area, and also be equal to our peers across the country that are reducing/changing how they're using energy, what their energy resources are," said Dyann Andybur, energy coordinator for the City of Duluth.
