Ironwood, MI (NNCNOW.com) --- A 9-year-old girl was injured after being struck by a car on her bicycle in Ironwood Monday afternoon.

Ironwood Public Safety Officers responded to reports of a bicyclist versus a car around noon on Monday at the intersection of Cloverland Drive and Lake.

Authorities say the 9-year-old girl from Ironwood had crossed the highway and was struck by oncoming traffic.

The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle had a green light and the bicyclist crossed into oncoming traffic.

The girl was taken to a Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, but later airlifted to Duluth.

Her condition at this time is unknown.
