Pilsen Township, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Heavy trail dust caused a collision between two ATVs on Sunday in Bayfield County, leaving one person hurt.

The accident happened on the Tri-County Corridor near Crooked Lake Road.

The Bayfield County Sheriff says a utility vehicle, operated by a 38-year-old male from Hugo, Minnesota, was ahead of the ATV and had stopped at a stop sign at a driveway crossing.

The following ATV was being operated by a 14-year-old male from Rosemont, Minnesota. Due to reduced visibility caused by heavy trail dust the operator of the ATV did not see the UTV and collided into the rear of it.

The 14-year-old was thrown off his ATV and landed on the trail. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and had a Minnesota ATV safety certificate. The 14-year-old was transported to MMC hospital in Ashland.

The operator of the UTV was not injured.

Iron River Ambulance responded along with a Bayfield County Deputy.
