Lake Superior Magazine has unveiled its Best of the Lake 2012 winners. There are winners in 12 categories from Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ontario.
At least one or more of the winners are from one of the states listed.
In the Best Overlooks category, the Split Rock Lighthouse in Minnesota shined as the top spot. For Wisconsin, the town of Bayfield, in itself won. Along with the Apostle Highlands Golf Course and the Big Bay State Park on Madeline Island.
For the Best Gift Shop, the Lake Superior Trading post in Grand Marais and the Sivertson Galleries in Grand Marais in Duluth won for Minnesota. In Wisconsin, Stone's Throw and Keeper of the Light in Bayfield takes the cake.
For the Best Rock Picking category, the winners were Wisconsin's Saxon Harbor near Hurley and Big Bay Town Park in La Pointe on Madeline Island. The Minnesota winners were Grand Marais' Waterfront and the Brighton Beach in the Kitchi Gammi Park in Duluth.
Winners for the Best Boat Watching were awarded to Canal Park/Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth and the Two Harbors Waterfront. O Bayfield Waterfront and the Madeline Island Beach Club were the winners for Wisconsin.
And, the Best Beaches category belonged to Duluth's Park Point beaches and the Big Bay State Park on Madeline Island. Another Wisconsin winner went to Julian Bay on Stockton Island.
