Superior, WI (Northlands NewsCenter)
-- It was a battle of numbers today at the University of Wisconsin-Superior with 120 high school students testing their arithmetic skills.
The 38th annual math meet has students from 11 Northland high schools solving difficult problems in geometry, algebra, trigonometry and statistics.
Organizers of the event want to get teens interested in math at a younger age, and believe this competition incorporates fun and learning seamlessly.
"It's a fundamental skill that students need to have; and it's fun to bring high school students in to see math in a different light"
Awards are given to the quickest and most accurate student mathematicians.
