Habitat for Humanity teamed up with United Health Care today for what they call, "A Brush with Kindness."

Volunteers traded a day off for work gloves and hard hats to put a roof over the head of one Superior woman.

"I've lived here for 20 years, out here, lovin every minute of it," says home-owner, Patricia Olson.

Those minutes have been a little noisier today. Dozens of volunteers came to help Patricia rebuild her home. In the 20 years she's lived in her home, it has weathered more than just storms.

"I had a fire in the trailer next door and it affected the whole side of my roof, and so it leaked. Now they're replacing my whole roof, it's amazing," says Olson.

Patricia was chosen after sharing her story with Habitat for Humanity.

"She contacted us back in the spring and filled out an application and asked us if we could maybe come along side her and help her stay in her home," said Executive Director for the West Lakes Superior Habitat for Humanity, Daryl Yankee.

Over 30 volunteers came out to not only fix the roof, but also to stain Patricia's deck, and paint the shed.

"These materials are purchased with individual donations and donations, that the volunteer groups bring so we can do as many of the projects as the community is willing to support us with," said Yankee.

Support that many people in situations like Patricia's, could not do without.

There's all these people that are here to help me. So, there are no words that I could come up with so I could tell how grateful I am," says Olson.

Patricia says this help will allow her to love many more minutes, in her Superior home.

"I'm going to live here for as long as I can right by the lake and see what I can do to volunteer and give back," says Olson.

Volunteers planned on finishing up the work on Patricia's home today around 3 o'clock.
