Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) -- Additional walkie-talkies, door security systems, and police presence is on the agenda for the Superior School District, say officials.

These decisions come after what district officials are calling a productive, pro-active meeting between the Superior Police Department and the district.

Following the Sandy Hook tragedy, district administrator Janna Stevens says the meeting offered an opportunity for feedback from authorities on the strengths and potential weaknesses of school ground security.

While much of what the school already has planned for crisis situations is considered sufficient, says Stevens, the addition of three door buzzer security systems and providing additional employees with walkie-talkies are two goals for the board moving forward.

According to the Superior Police, the decision for increased police presence on school grounds is not in response to any substantiated threat... but is designated to help foster a safe, criminal-free environment.
