Washburn, Wis. (NNCNOW.com) -- An Iron River, Wis. man accused of stabbing his parents appeared in Bayfield County Court on Friday.
A preliminary hearing for 44-year-old James Crain Jr. was set for Friday, but he waived his right to that hearing.
A preliminary hearing gives the state the opportunity to present any evidence through witnesses or documents that would convince the judge that a crime was committed.
Crain has been charged with first degree intentional homicide in the stabbing deaths of his parents, Jim and Eunice Crain in December.
He was put through a battery of mental health tests and an expert determined him to be competent to stand trial and participate in his defense.
Crain is also being charged with battery of a peace officer and failure to comply with a police officer.
He will be arraigned on May 6, at the Bayfield County Court House.
