One person has died after a fire at an Ashland apartment building.
The blaze started before 9pm last night in an old Victorian apartment building located at 600 Chapple Avenue.
According to the Ashland Fire Department when they arrived on the scene a woman had jumped out of her apartment to escape the flames and told rescuers that there was still someone else trapped inside.
Firefighters tried to find the victim in the building, but were unable to get to him right away.
He died at the scene.
The woman had to be airlifted to Duluth with burns covering 23 percent of her body.
At this time the state fire marshal's office is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
