Bayfield Community Remembers Well-known Fishing Guide
Bayfield, WI (NNCNOW.com) - A Wisconsin community is in mourning after the loss of a well–known fishing guide. James Hudson, 34, of Bayfield died Saturday when the snowmobile he was riding near Madeline Island fell through thin ice, submerging him in the icy waters of Lake Superior for 45 minutes. The community of Bayfield came together at a coffee shop Sunday where Hudson's wife was a regular, to remember the man they knew well. Owners of the shop offered free coffee in memory of Hudson. "It's somebody that we knew very well and it affects everyone in our community," said owner of Big Water Coffee Roasters, Danielle Ewalt, "It's a really tight knit community. We all do what we can and in what way we're capable and for me this was just something I could do." Hudson was the husband of Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, the photographer whose photograph of a Bayfield man swimming with his elderly dog went viral. Written for the web by Jennifer Austin.
