Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Belknap Street in Superior will be seeing some major changes in the near future, following the positive feedback from the recent improvements to Tower Avenue.
Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen says the upgrade to Tower Avenue has brought a great deal of attention and liveliness back to that area of Superior, and he hopes to do the same with Belknap Street.
He says improvements to Belknap weren't on the radar for Superior until 2035, but that the changes must be done before that for the street to continue thriving.
"We put together justification, went to Madison and met with the Secretary of Transportation, three weeks later he says, 'Yeah, you're right. We need to rebuild it,' so it's going to be about a $20 million project that will resemble very closely what Tower Avenue looks like," said Mayor Hagen.
He says improving Belknap Street is the next step in keeping Superior on the move.
