Boil and Water Advisory in effect for Mellen Wisconsin

Mellen, WI (NNCNOW.com) - The Mellen Municipal Utilities has issued a boiling and water advisory due to Fecal Coliform and E. coli contamination.

Sampling on June 18 and 23, indicated elevated levels of the bacteria's.
Utility officials advise boiling or using commercial bottled water for drinking, food preparations, and ice making. When boiling water, the water should be heated to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use. Ice should also be made from boiled or bottled water.

Symptoms of E. Coli and Fecal Coliform contamination include diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms.

Residents should continue boiling and consuming bottled water until sampling shows that no bacteria are present.
