Wisconsin Man Dead in Snowmobile Accident

Port Wing, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- A 37-year-old man from Onalaska, Wisconsin is dead after a snowmobile accident in the Township of Port Wing.

The Bayfield County Communications Center received a 911 cell phone call at 4 a.m. Friday morning reporting a snowmobile accident in the Township of Portwing on a snowmobile trail.

The accident scene was located about a quarter mile off of Touve Road on Snowmobilie Trail 1. The driver of the snowmobile had suffered traumatic head injuries and was pronounced dead when emergency responders arrived to the scene.

The name of the man will be released once notification of family has been made.

The Port Wing Fire Department, South Shore Ambulance, Gold Cross Paramedic Ambulance, Lifelink III Medical Helicopter, Wisconsin DNR Wardens and Deputies of the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
