MAPLE, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Maple Fire Chief says a fire destroyed an auto shop, owned by one of the Maple fire fighters, on Cemetery Road, just off of Highway 2.

Maple Fire Chief Michael Lundeen says the fire fighters responded around 10:30 p.m.

When they arrived on scene, they found half of the building engulfed in flames.

Mutual aid was called in from the Brule and Poplar Fire Departments.

The chief says it took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.

Lundeen says the Maple fire fighter who owns the building responded to the call and helped put the fire out. Lundeen says he used the building mostly for personal use, and a little bit of business.

"I'm pretty heart broken for him, especially when his father just passed away, and we were at his funeral this morning, and then this happened. It's kind of a double whammy for him," said Lundeen.

Lundeen estimates the building to have $80,000 of damage. There were also several tools inside.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
