Washburn County, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- According to the Spooner Advocate, the Wisconsin Indian Head Country Governor's Opener is going to Trego Lake, May 4 - 6.
The event was requested by Washburn County in 2009 and was scheduled for 2012. The event not only highlights the fishing, but also the accommodations, restaurants, businesses, the natural beauty and the people in the community, according to the Spooner Advocate.
In 1965, the Wisconsin Indian Head Country started the event and has been important to tourism in Northwest Wisconsin, according to the WIHC.
The Spooner Advocates says that in 2010, those who visited Washburn County, generated over $58 million and a total impact of $3 million in taxes and other fees for the local government.
