Waukesha, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Governor Scott Walker is proclaiming August 13th as "Purple Hearts for Healing Day" across Wisconsin in honor of the 12-year-old stabbing victim in the "Slenderman" attempted killing.

Walker will be wearing purple in honor of the little girl who was stabbed 19 times by two classmates, and invites everyone to join him in wearing purple.

"This little girl is overcoming a terrible ordeal with the help of family, friends, medical professionals and the incredible outpouring of love and support from the great people here in Wisconsin and around the world," Walker said. "Her strength and determination are an inspiration, and on behalf of Wisconsin, I wish her well as she continues her journey to recovery."

Walker's office says August 13th carries special meaning to the victim because most members of her family were born on the 13th of different months.

A fundraiser page was created shortly after the May 2014 attack, which was called "Purple Hearts for Healing" – the fundraising page prompted people from around the world to send the girl paper purple hearts – and one man actual gave her his real Purple Heart he'd earned for serving our country.

At the end of this month the family is putting on a fundraiser called "Feed Your Heart" fundraiser for the little girl and her family. For more information on the event please click here.
