(NNCNOW.com) -- The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation has awarded the regional flood fund of the Flood Homes With Hope Campaign a $250,000 matching grant for flood relief from the Foundation’s 2012 Flood Early Recovery Fund.

The donation is the largest direct contribution to the Regional Flood Fund to date and will be used to help hundreds of Northland residents rebuild their homes after the devastating June 2012 Flash Floods. The award will match every contribution to the fund from December 17, 2012 until October 23, 2012 up to a limit of $250,000.

The United Way of Greater Duluth is the fiscal agent for the Regional Flood Fund, which serves survivors of the flood across the entire range of the Northland Flash Flood, from Lake County to Aitkin County, and including Douglas County, Wisconsin, Duluth, St. Louis County, Carlton County, Pine County and the Fond du Lac Reservation.

Flood Homes With Hope has been established as a coordinated effort to address the long-term recovery needs of those affected by the flood in our region.

Partners include the United Ways of Greater Duluth, Carlton County and Douglas County, Ecolibrium3, One Roof Housing, the Salvation Army, the Catholic Dioceses of Duluth, the Northeast Minnesota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Aitkin County CARE, Lutheran Social Services, Carlton County and St. Louis County among many others.

Lutheran Social Services has established a team of nine Disaster Case Managers across the regions, who are currently serving more than 500 individuals and families with their recovery.

Between all of the partners in the Flood Home With Hope Campaign, more than $1.4 million has been raised to assist in individual and families long term recovery, and more than $700,000 has been spent or committed in the process.
