Madison, WI (Northland’s NewsCenter) – Governor Scott Walker has approved $7M in grants for three harbor projects across the state, including one in Superior.

The City of Superior will receive $4.7M for stabilization of the General Mills dock which also protects 31 full-time jobs.

The state says the 80-year-old bulkhead wall has deteriorated and needs to be fixed to decrease mounting risks to the foundation.

Eight billion bushels of grain are loaded at the dock each year. Superior is required to provide a 20% match of the grant.

Other cities awarded include Green Bay and Sheboygan.
