Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) —– A new bill was introduced Monday to help middle–class Wisconsin homeowners with heating assistance. Assembly Bill 770 offers low–interest loans to homeowners allowing them to purchase propane and other heating supplies which are approved by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA). WHEDA guarantees loans to households whose income does not exceed 200 percent of the median family income in the U.S.; however, loans cannot exceed $2,500. "While assistance is currently available for low income individuals, this bill will help ensure those in the middle class are also able to pay their propane bills and heating expenses," said Representative Mary Czaja of the Wisconsin State Legislature. This bill helps homeowners who do not qualify for the assistance that Governor Scott Walker established in January for low–income assistance through the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP). Assembly Bill 770 has been authorized by four senators and twelve representatives of the Wisconsin State Legislature. For more information on the bill, please click here.
