Mercer, WI (NNCNOW.com) - A honeymoon was cut short early Wednesday morning after a vacation home went up in flames in Wisconsin.

The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. at the home located along Great Northern Trails in Mercer.

Fire Chief Steve Altman says crews spent nearly nine hours fighting fire and smoke.

Altman says the newly-wed couple vacationing at the home wasn't hurt.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
