Trego, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- An Illinois man has died after his truck fell through thin ice on a lake in Washburn County.

Authorities found the body of 30-year-old Edward Steinhardt Friday, in a brushy creek area about a half mile from his vehicle.

Officials believe he died from exposure to the weather.

An autopsy has been ordered by the Washburn County Deputy Coroner.

They say the company truck broke through thin ice on the south end of Dilly Lake, near Trego, Wisconsin.

The truck had frozen water up to the seat.

Steinhardt had been missing since December 23.

The Washburn County Sherrifs Department and DNR are recommending no travel on area lakes due to poor ice conditions.

The agencies report that in the last week, three vehicles have broken through the ice while traveling on Nancy, Pokegama and Gilmore Lakes.

All occupants of those vehicles got out safely.
