Hurley, WI (NNCNOW.com) - The Iron County Board has unanimously approved an addition to the county Land Use Ordinance, which could impact Gogebic Taconite's bulk sampling project.

The board adopted two new sections of the Land Use Ordinance which will require Gogebic Taconite to purchase a Bulk Sampling Conditional Use permit costing $10,000.

Iron County Board Chair, Joe Pinardi says, this is the first time a resolution like this has been needed because there hasn't been a previous request for a company to do bulk sampling in the county.

G-Tac is still in the process of getting required state bulk sampling permits from the Wisconsin DNR.
